Thinker, Your latest reply seems to be an attempt to blame every evil in the world on my church.
I have ask you are you influence by Armstrong. You refuse to answer although you said to say you are not influence by Armstrong World Wide Church of God is wrong.*I have also ask for the Catholic sources you quote for people like Simon Magfus or Simon the Magician.

Therefore until you answer these questions I do not have to answer your questions.. But to show others your complete ignorance of the Catholic Church I will correct some of your errors.Your statement that
Quote:
By the way, I agree with your synopsis of Eusebius the Catholic leader and historian.

It is clear from your accounts Eusebuis was a liar and therefore not a good Catholic.Although his name may be on some list of Popes, little is known of the early Popes. As the church was persecuted for the first 300 years no Bishop could really govern the universal church.

You quote part of a Catholic Enyclopedia.
Quote:
Christmas was not among the earliest festivals of the Church. Irenaeus and Tertullian omit it from their lists of feasts; Origen, glancing perhaps at the discreditable imperial Natalitia, asserts (in Lev. Hom. viii in Migne, P.G., XII, 495) that in the Scriptures sinners alone, not saints, celebrate their birthday; Arnobius (VII, 32 in P.L., V, 1264) can still ridicule the "birthdays" of the gods.

The church customs has always been to commerate the death of a saint not his birth. It is only then does he reach his true new life in heaven. Of course for people who will do not know it they are not saints we are only left with their birthday in this life. The case of Jesus is a little different. He was always God so has no day to commerate his arrival in Heaven. His entrance to our life on earth is important for humanity. However we do not know what date it is. Nobody seriously thinks it was December 25. Can you give me one Catholic source that says that. The Church just decided to commerate it on a particula convient date for the Northern Hemisphere. It certainly is not a mid winter festival here in the Southern Hemisphere. You have given many dates when this started but it was long after Constantine and his Sun God.
The Easter Church still regards Epihany as more important. This commerates when Crhist manifested himself to the world.

you ask
Quote:
The Messiah and the Apostles kept the Passover. Truth or False

The answer is true.
However Did the Apostles break bread on other days? True of False. To Catholics this is the Mass.

I will leave it to Helice to say whether you are a liar.
However this statemernt proves you know nothing about the Catholic Church.
Quote:
The Catholics celebrate Easter but changed the festival to the resurection celebration when the Messiah said to celebrate the day of His death as a memorial and at a specific hour on that day not His resurection. Since the Passover is once a year on the 14th of Nissan or YahWeH's first month of the year, how do the Catholic's get the idea it should be kept every "Mass"? Also why disregard the direct Commands of the Messiah? And His Father YaHWeH

A Mass is not just a celebration of Easter. We do celebrate Easter Sunday with Masses as we do every day.On Good Friday we do not have a concecrated Mass but other cernomies. Once again the exact dates are not important. They are based on the Moon cycles and the Eastern church arrives at a different date.

You then go on to say the Catholics are responsible for all the elements added in this pagan world. The Christmas tree was populized by Martin Luther. The Hot cross bun is nothing like the unleaven bread used in lent. The host is not always in the form of a circle. Today we received a portion of the broken bread in many shapes.

Your seem to be more interested in attacking my church rather than defending your doctrines and Church.

Yesterday at 01:44 PM Saving the Planet by Ray

Found an interesting story from the Denver Post online:

Quote:
by David Harsanyi on September 6, 2008

This morning, Republicans tell me that a worker at Invesco Field in Denver saved thousands of unused flags from the Democratic National Convention that were headed for the garbage. Guerrilla campaigning. They will use these flags at their own event today in Colorado Springs with John McCain and Sarah Palin.

Before McCain speaks today, veterans will haul these garbage bags filled with flags out onto the stage — with dramatic effect, no doubt — and tell the story.

“What you see in the picture I sent you is less than half of total flags,” a Republican official emailed. “We estimate the total number to be around 12,000 small flags and one full size 3×5 flag.”

I’m not sure what the DNC was supposed to do with unused hand-flags, frankly. But the Republicans are obviously questioning someone’s patriotism here.

But one of the reader comments following the story was a real knee-slapper:

Quote:
What do you expect from a party that hates patriotism? The flag is the symbol of everything they hate.

Of course, NONE of these are my words and, therefore, cannot be construed as being my opinions. I'm just repeating what other people said.

09/04/08 10:44 PM Obama Loses Another Colleague by Ray

Oh dear. Poor, poor Barack. First his friend and mentor of 20 years Rev. Jeremiah Wright is sent packing. And, of course there's that sticky issue surrounding his relationship with William "Bomb Boy" Ayres who Obama claims was just another guy in the neighborhood, but then there's that Chicago Annenberg Challenge governing board thingie and the fact that Obama launched his political career in the living room of his barely known acquaintance, Bill Ayres. But no matter.

Now, another blow as Obama's good "friend and a colleague" Kwame Kilpatrick who, until very very recently, was the Mayor of Detroit. But lo' Hizzoner the Mayor has pleaded guilty to felony charges and will be forced to resign immediately. According to the news report from WXYZ-TV in Detroit: http://tinyurl.com/6nyry4
Kilpatrick pleaded guilty to two obstruction of justice felony charges. In addition to his resignation, the Mayor will serve 120 days in jail, serve 5 years probation, pay one million dollars restitution, surrender his pension, surrender his law license and may not seek office for 5 years.

The Mayor also pleaded no contest to assault charges as part of a settlement agreement under the conditions that he must resign. The second count in the case will be dismissed.
By the way, if you bother to use the link to read the whole story you can play the game of "Guess the Party Affiliation." Since it is, typically, NOT mentioned in the story, I'll give you a hint. Kilpatrick was an Obama delegate.

But I can only imagine how distressed Barack Obama must be. At an Economic Club gathering in Detroit Obama said:
"I want to first of all acknowledge your great Mayor, Kwame Kilpatrick, who has been on the front lines doing an outstanding job of gathering together the leadership at every level in Detroit to bring about the kind of renaissance that all of us anticipate for this great city.

And he is a leader not just here in Detroit, not just in Michigan, but all across the country people look to him. We know that he is going to be doing astounding things for many years to come.

I'm grateful to call him a friend and a colleague, and I'm looking forward to a lengthy collaboration in terms of making sure Detroit does well in the future."
Yet, another fine example of Barack Obama's keen judgment. Though to be fair, this surely was not the Kwame Kilpatrick that Obama knew.

09/04/08 10:01 PM Did McCain Abandon His Injured Ex-wife For Cindy? by ExSoccerMom

Carol McCain was Sen. John McCain's (formerly an attractive model) wife when he was being held in a North Vietnamese prison for 5 years. She was also the mother of his three children. They were married in 1965. Then in 1969 her car skidded on an icy road and hit a utility pole. Her pelvis was shattered and she also suffered from serious internal injuries. To save her legs, doctors had to remove some bone which caused her to walk with a limp. Carol eventually under went 23 surgeries related to her injuries. Texas billionaire and POW supporter, H. Ross Perot paid for Carol McCain's medical treatments.

McCain met the current Mrs. McCain (Cindy, who was 25 at the time) at a party in Hawaii while he was still married to Carol in 1979. He and Cindy were married in 1980. In spite of all this, Carol reportedly still supports her ex-husband's bid for the white house.

My question is this: Does McCain's somewhat shabby treatment of his severely injured ex-wife reflect a certain lack of compassion on his part, especially since he left her for a younger and much wealthier woman? So far, I have not heard very much about this in the media, and even less from the evangelical community who are always bringing up family value and personal integrity issues, especially where Democrats are concerned. In my mind this kind of thing is a lot worse behavior than Bill Clinton's 15 minute dalliance with Monica Lewinsky

Was his decision based on the fact that his wife was no longer the attractive young woman she was when he shipped off to Vietnam, or was it because he simply opted for a once-in-a-lifetime career opportunity for a giant leap in the upward social mobility category? Inquiring minds want to know.

09/03/08 04:28 AM Policemen to the World by lizbeth

Should the US have become 'Policemen to the World?' Following WWII and as a result of our apparent military dominance, we have become so. But doesn't that go against the policy of non-interference? Is Russia now using that against us with its interference in Georgia?

From what I've read, Russia has said, 'If the US can interfere in Iraq's politics, we can interfere in the politics of any country which is a former SSR. And we have the right to do so since the former SSRs were our buffer zone against the West and, as SSRs, were a part of Russia.'

What gives the US the 'right' to interfere in other countries? What gives Russia the 'right' to interfere in other countries--or even provinces within Russia itself?

Is it all a test of military strength? If it is, are we going back to the Cold War where military might is answered by military might?

09/01/08 04:56 PM The Election-Year Effect by jackdiddley

2008 is an election year in America. There is an easy way to tell this, and it isn't watching the news. You simply watch the Democrat and Republican supporters in message boards.

I thought I had seen it all 4 years ago. The sheer passion that was expressed then by people while supporting their candidates was something to behold. This year, however, there are still 2 months to go before the election and already things are getting very heated. I'll be honest, what I've been reading is creeping up towards hate. That is not healthy, people!

It is also something I am not familiar with. It certainly isn't something that happens over in this country. Sure, people are critical of politicians, and yes, that criticism is often along party lines. However, it is never as strong as what we see during Presidential campaigns in America.

You see, over here, when we have an election, there is increased talk about politics. People discuss it and exchange views. However, once the election is over, people get on with their lives, regardless of who won. One way or another, whoever is in charge, things work.

What we see from the American public is people that loathe other people, for little reason other than they are on the wrong side. If having a country that is split solely down political lines rather than the interests of the country is the price of being the "Greatest Nation on Earth", then you can keep it.

I'd much rather have a mediocre country where things work and get done.

09/01/08 01:52 PM Eye- Rack! by Chocolategenii

Does Governor Palin honestly not know the plan to end the war in Eye-Rack ..errr Iraq? This is how seriously McCain takes foreign policy and war?? Here is the full interview from Time magazine on Aug. 14th.

http://www.time.com/time/politics/article/0,8599,1837536,00.html

Here is the quote in more context...

The GOP agenda to ramp up domestic supplies of energy is the only way that we are going to become energy independent, the only way that we are going to become a more secure nation. And I say this, of course, knowing the situation we are in right now at war, not knowing what the plan is to ever end the war we are engaged in, understanding that Americans are seeking solutions and are seeking resolution in this war effort. So energy supplies and being able to produce and supply domestically is going to be a big part of that.

If someone wants to be "kind" to her statement, one would actually conclude that her assertion about if we had a better energy policy the war could have been avoided...she is smacking down both McCain AND Cheney-Bush.....
