Pueraria lobata, probably will not grow well in Southern Australia because of frosts. However it does very well in North Eastern Australia, so much so, that New South Wales have delcared it a noxious weed. Similar moves to ban the plant in Queensland. There is work being carried out to introduce a 'biological' control. I hope this doesn't mean something like Cane Toads!

Interesting how some plants that are quite innocent in the right conditions, can become out of control in others.

Tutti, Babaco is a sterile form of pawpaw. Seedless, obviously, it's supposed to be creamier than pawpaw.

Pawpaw is a tropical fruit and would not grow in my area, we get too many winter frosts.

The climate here is considered to be 'mediteranean', quite moderate, but still prone to the occassional frost. The biggest problem we have is in summer, hot north winds wipe out a lot of plants.

I'll do some more digging. BTW, did you realize that pawpaw was indeginous to areas of the US? I didn't.

Isn't pawpaw another name for papaya?

I once came across an old pop bottle with raised glass design praoclaiming it to be "Munyon's Paw Paw" so apparently it is, or was, a flavor popular enough to be produced commercially in soft drinks.

How interesting! The PawPaw you are referring to Dax is not the same fruit as Papaya, although the tropical Papaya is often referred to incorrectly as Pawpaw.

PawPaw (Asimina) is indeed native to America.

Papaya is not only delicious, but has an enzyme which aids digestion. I know a number of people who have been recommended fresh papaya be included in their diets after intestinal surgery.
