Today was my first day without oxycodone. Hey, Whoosh, I've done it without expensive rehab! I am so proud of me.

Is the pain still there? Yes. Is it 'excruciating?' That depends. Whoosh said his was--so he 'became addicted.'

I woke up at 4am and was awake until 6am and decided I couldn't afford to become addicted.

Eat your heart out, Betty Ford Rehab centers.

Just say No!

Zany? I sure hope so!

I think there are pain management specialists who might be able to teach you techniques to reduce pain.

Is this the correct forum for this?

What popular talk radio-show host was 'hooked' on opiates in order to relieve his 'excruciating' back pain?

I don't know, but I recall Rush Limbaugh once saying that people who abused drugs like that should be put in jail.

You mean he's broadcasting from ...Nah...say it isn't so! That would mean he's taking up jail space reserved for marijuana users.

Sorry, friends, I took another oxycdone tonight and tried to think of what caused all this.

When I was a pre-teen, we lived in San Francisco while my Father was in VietNam. The house had a rug-beater bar in back.

Thinking I was a gymnast--but really wanting to show off (we were preparing a 'show' for Mom)) I kipped onto that bar, lost my grip and fell flat onto my buttkis.

Was that the start of my loose spinal disc?

Ellie was a real gymnast--trained and award-winning. She still suffers the affects of multiple stress fractures.

We are so fragile in so many ways

So how are you managing your pain, since stopping the use of pain killers?

Have you tried acupuncture?

Do you need surgery?

This thread is somewhat confusing.

I've used accupuncture before, but I had to pay for it. Our insurance still doesn't cover alternative medicines, although it's getting better.

Hopefully, I won't need surgery, but I may need a steroid shot in my back.

In the meantime, this thread is going nowhere, so let's just bag it, shall we? Unless, of course, you'd like to discuss the merits of alternative treatments vs traditional ones--which is kind of what I had in mind when I started it. (Writing 'off the cuff' is a 'process,' to me.)
