If it's a fact that the trooper made death threats against members of the Governor;s family, then I agree with you that he should be fired, but I haven't seen evidence of that, so although that was given as the reason for the firing, it remains a matter of conjecture to me.
I don't take the words of an elected official to be any more or less truthful than anyone else's.

If it's a fact the trooper made death threats against members of the Governor, than she should have gone through the police....filed a complaint, and start a criminal investigation if it were found there were evidence.

So...while I wont criticize you for contributing to the thread in a meaningful manner, I most certainly will criticize you for fabrication issues and using them to take snide little jabs at someone. I trust no one will criticize me as a result...
Well...here is a quote I found in a speech she made regarding our troops in Iraq:
"Pray for our military men and women who are striving to do what is right. Also, for this country, that our leaders, our national leaders, are sending [U.S. soldiers] out on a task that is from God," she exhorted the congregants. "That's what we have to make sure that we're praying for, that there is a plan and that that plan is God's plan."
Does she know what God's plan for Iraq?

Who knows if she knows what the Christian god's plan might be...Of course, I did not see her suggest that she did know. WHat I saw was her giving a speech at a church and in that speech she asked the congregants to pray that our leaders are essentially doing their god's work. Nothing in the passage you quoted indicates Palin claimed to know what that work might be...

However, I think it's fair to assume that if Palin thought God's plan was to have our troops slaughtered in Iraq, America overrun and forced into Sharia law, and George W. Bush tried as a war criminal in The Hague, she would not be asking her congregation to pray for it.
So I think we can safely say that she has some idea of what she believes God's plan is.

Or we can safely assume that, being in a church, she offered up a supplication that wouldn't suggest that she knows what might be in the mind of the Almighty, but that she hopes our national leaders receive divine guidance; it's the sort of "prayer" that wouldn't offend anyone who wasn't already looking for a reason, any reason to find offense.

The argument was not about the prayer, but about whether or not she knew what God had in mind, and I suggested that she believed she did.
I guess I fail to see what you're seeing. If she had said something like "And let us thank God for being on our side as we know we're doing God's will." then I suppose I could see your point. But she didn't say anything like that. She appeared to me to be asking for divine guidance, which is something quite different.
But, perhaps you can point out exactly what she said that supports your contention.

The problem with this, CG, is that it's a 'he said she said' story. The trooper was the ex of Palin's sister, and it was probably more convenient and expedient just to fire the guy. Else we get bad publicity, a shaky criminal case, and a lot more bad feeling than simply losing a job and learning a lesson about who not to threaten.
